Last weekend, my sister Sneu and I went on an adventure for great food. We searched desperately and finally, after an hour of driving in circles, we found parking on Prince Arthur and St-Laurent. Now, I had been given some information about a new place called "Le Fumoir Rubs" by a lovely lady, so this place seemed to jump out at me. Once inside, I had a Rip Van Winkle moment and finally understood my purpose in life; this place is heaven.
The manly, log-cabin setting puts everything into place. There is a full bar with all types of Rickards and Molson on tap, and televisions scattering the walls for prime viewing of the Habs games, which will hopefully start before Christmas. When reading the menu, I realized that almost EVERYTHING on the menu is cooked in a smoker, which excited me greatly. We ordered ribs and pulled pork, which was cooked right away and served to us without any problems. The service is impecable at this wonderful house of meat, and I would go back everyday if I could.
The food, needless to say, was absolutely fantastic. my sandwich appeared before me with a glowing white aura around it like it came from the heavens. I stared for some time while drooling everywhere and finally recognized that the piece of art before me was edible. The soft, white bun was soaked in sweet and tangy bbq sauce, smothered with a pound of pulled, juicy pork. Atop this mound of goodness, a dark purple pile of pickled cabbage. The two sides I picked were smoked mac and cheese, which is a great idea in itself, and baked beans. The ribs too were cooked amazingly. Dont fret because they aren't smothered in sauce, these ribs pack a ton of flavour. As well, there are two sauces that ameliorate any type of meat: bbq sauce and spicy mayo made in house, I would guess. Taste them with everything because they're stupid good.Without a doubt, Rubs will become a household term when referring to fantastic food in Montreal. If you havent been there, set yourself a reminder to go because this place serves some of the best food I've ever tasted.
Let me know how it goes!
